To provide work authorization for aliens who are eligible for status as VAWA self-petitioners or for T or U visas while applications for such status or visas are pending.

WORK AUTHORIZATION.—(A) Upon the approval of a petition as a VAWA self-petitioner, the
alien—
‘‘(i) is eligible for work authorization; and
‘‘(ii) may be provided an ‘employment au-
thorized’ endorsement or appropriate work per-
mit incidental to such approval.
‘‘(B) Notwithstanding any provision of this Act
restricting eligibility for employment in the United
States, the Secretary of Homeland Security shall
grant employment authorization to an alien who has
filed an application for status as a VAWA self-peti-
tioner on the date that is the earlier of—
‘‘(i) the date on which the alien’s applica-
tion for such status is approved; or
‘‘(ii) a date determined by the Secretary
that is not later than 180 days after the date
on which the alien filed the application.
