II DIALOGO BINACIONAL SOBRE CONTROL MIGRATORIO Y DERECHOS HUMANOS DE LAS PERSONAS MIGRANTES EN LAS CALIFORNIAS / DIÁLOGO BINACIONAL/BINATIONAL DIALOGUE IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENT AND MIGRANTS’ HUMAN RIGHTS IN THE CALIFORNIAS
El objetivo del II Diálogo Binacional sobre Control Migratorio y Derechos Humanos de las Personas Migrantes en las Californias es reunir a funcionarios públicos, abogados, organizaciones de la sociedad civil y académicos de ambos lados de la frontera, para discutir las políticas de control migratorio y fronterizo, y los procedimientos que garanticen los derechos humanos de migrantes, refugiados y desplazados en esta región. En particular, el II Diálogo Binacional busca hacer una revisión de los temas de asilo, deportación, y control fronterizo en las Californias a la luz de los cambios en la política migratoria por parte de la nueva administración en Estados Unidos. Asimismo, se revisarán los escenarios migratorios en México provocados por estas políticas y por nuevos retos regionales. También se explorará el factor Canadiense como un elemento nuevo e importante en el tema de protección humanitaria en la región.
Purpose
The purpose of the II Binational Dialogue on Immigration Enforcement and Migrants’ Human Rights in the Californias is to bring together organzations, lawyers, academics, and public servants to discuss immigration and border enforcement policies, and the procedures to guarantee the protection of human rights in the region. In this II Dialogue we will focus particularly in reviewing the new scenarios enacted in the U.S. by the new administration with regards to immigration and border enforcement, deportation, asylum and refugee policies. We will also converse about the implications that current U.S. immigration policies have in México and will review how Canada emerges as an important factor in the current state of affairs.
